South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit​ (CWP)

 

This is the required ​training for the concealed carry of firearms in this state. The classroom portion covers the legal aspects of the CWP as well as firearm defense & retention, safety, storage, and transportation. After the classroom portion, a 25 round qualification is conducted. Applicants then schedule an appointment to have fingerprints taken electronically and submitted at one of several convenient locations. CWP cards then arrive by mail in 45-90 days.

1911 Operator

 

The 1911 has been a popular platform for self defense and tactical applications for well over 100 years. Although it may not be right for everyone, it can be a very effective CWP pistol for those who are trained on how to properly use it. In fact, it is my personal choice for daily concealed carry. This class is for the person who wants to utilize the 1911 as their concealed carry or home defense pistol. Also great for the those who just want to become more comfortable or proficient with this platform. 

 

Topics covered include:

* Proper disassembly/ reassembly.

* maintenance/ cleaning.

* Pistol setup & customization.

* Concealed carry of the 1911.

* Drills designed to enhance skills unique to the 1911 (Thumb safety manipulation, slide lock reloads, Malfunction clearing).

* Live fire & dry fire drills designed to increase speed, accuracy, and proficiency.

Basic Pistol

This course is perfect for the new gun owner, or anyone who wants to familiarize themselves and gain comfort and confidence with a handgun. This is a relaxed, stress free, hands-on class that will give you the basic knowledge needed to safely handle, load, fire, and maintain a pistol. You will leave this course with a more confident understanding in the safe use of handguns.

Defensive Pistol 1 (DP1)

​

This is the next step after completing the CWP or the Basic Pistol courses. DP1 helps the student to begin building a foundation on how to effectively and efficiently defend themselves with a pistol. Students will learn to safely work from concealment, presentation, sight picture, trigger control, shot delivery and placement, perform reloads, and clear stoppages. This course is NOT about shooting bulls eyes! This course is about learning how to effectively & efficiently fight with a pistol. Students MUST know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling skills before and during the course. Students failing to meet and maintain the safety requirements may be removed from training.​

Defensive Pistol 2 (DP2)

​

This course takes your skills to the next level. This intensive one-day class builds upon and refines the skill sets previously established in DP1, while focusing on consistent speed & accuracy. Students will also be introduced to new drills and techniques. Topics include: draw stroke & presentation, sight picture, shot delivery, target to target transitions, emergency & tactical reloads, malfunction clearing procedures, use of cover, moving then shooting. Students MUST know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling skills before and during the course. Students failing to meet and maintain the safety requirements may be removed from training.​

Combative Pistol (CQB)

​

After a brief assessment, students will perform handgun drills designed to improve both speed and accuracy. This is not an entry level course! Students MUST have and maintain the fundamentals, skills, and safety necessary to participate in training. This fast paced training has one single focus: surviving a deadly force encounter with a handgun. Efficiency of motion, speed and accuracy is the name of the game here. Topics include: Multiple threats, shooting while moving, utilization of cover and concealment, strong and support hand shooting and manipulation, low light shooting. Students MUST know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling skills before and during the course. Students failing to meet and maintain the safety requirements may be removed from training.​

Basic Carbine

​

This course is designed for anyone who wants to become familiar, confident, and efficient with the AR-15 weapons system. Topics include: operation and function, safe handling skills, basic carbine setup, carbine fundamentals, loading and unloading, rifle manipulation, zeroing and carbine marksmanship, disassembly and cleaning, safe storage and transport.

Defensive Carbine (DC1)

​

This class is for those looking to utilize the AR-15 platform as a defensive weapon. It takes up where the Basic Carbine course leaves off. This is an intermediate course and covers such topics as ammo selection for defense, rifle setup, zeroing red dot optics, ready positions, strong side and support side shooting, reloading, moving then shooting, target transitions. Students MUST know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling skills before and during the course. Students failing to meet and maintain the safety requirements may be removed from training.​

Active Shooter Response (Law-Enforcement/ Armed Security Only)

​

Unfortunately, in this day and age, active shooters are a potential threat. Students will learn an effective and proven way to respond to an active shooter threat. This course is designed for current Law-Enforcement and armed security professionals only. Topics include:  Formulating a plan, Search and rescue tactics, Entering the warm zone, How to establish a casualty collection point, Link up procedures, Threat analysis/on-scene intelligence, Hallway movement, Stairwell clearance, Cornering and intersection clearance, Live fire room entry and clearing techniques, Live fire team movements, Bounding over watch, 2, 3, and 4-man team movement.
